40' Steel Stock Car
Union Pacific (yellow, red, silver) #47456D
The prototype for the AtlasO Trainman two-rail O Scale 40' Steel Stock Car is based on cars used to ship livestock. During the heyday of rail transport, livestock was routinely shipped in complete trainloads to packing plants throughout the country. The typical stock car was based upon a 40' boxcar modified with open slat sides and sometimes internal decking for the smaller breeds of animals. Designed primarily for transporting cows and pigs, original stock cars date back to the 1860s, and could carry up to 20,000 pounds of livestock. Their use became rare by the 1980s, due to humane, safety and cost concerns. This O Scale model features a detailed injection-molded body, fine decoration, metal wheels and metal knuckle couplers. The Stock Car is perfect for your steam and classic diesel-era train consists.
