Bye Bye Broad Gauge (Vol 1)
In 2001, the Victorian Government announced a proposal to regauge the majority of the state's rail network from broad gauge to standard gauge. Converting the current fleet of operational steam locos to standard gauge is not an economically viable option. Thus, the present opportunity to run broad gauge steam statewide will soon disappear forever.
Steamrail Victoria ran a series of tours during 2002 advertised as "the final steam workings" to a variety of destinations in Victoria's northwest. This superb tape provides an excellent record of those history-making journeys.
Evocative steam action on the following lines:
- Mildura;
- Yelta;
- Murrayville;
- Dunolly - Inglewood;
