This book has photographs up to 1988. In recent years the line had been mothballed, occasionally reopening for short periods as a diversionary route when work was being carried out on other lines. In April 2013, it was announced that $7m would be spent upgrading and reopening it again for freight and grain traffic in 2014.
In the longer term, eventual conversion to standard gauge is the most likely outcome in conjunction with standardisation of the Goulburn Valley line to Shepparton and Tocumwal and possibly Cobram.
